Mindfulness-based Pilates & Wellness Studio

At Urban Wellness, a mindful approach to be present to the body as it is now without judgement is encouraged. To integrate mind and body, with the intention to move towards balance holistically.

The Pilates technique is applied as a "physical foundation" and "building block" to facilitate and enhance your wellbeing. Your physical shape will improve, both internally and externally, so that you move from a core foundation of awareness, calm, balance and strenth.

Belinda has 20 years experience in the fitness and wellness industry, as a personal trainer and as a rehabilitative Pilates teacher. She has an honours degree in psychology (counselling and health), and a post-graduate certification in Christian counselling. Her interest is on accessing the body's own wisdom towards healthy life choices.

Pilates is a gentle form of exercise that will improve your overall health and wellbeing. By emphasising proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentration on smooth, flowing movement, you become acutely in tune with your body.

Quality of movement is valued over quantity of repetitions. Proper breathing is essential, and helps you execute movements with maximum power and efficiency.

At least one private session is needed before going into a group class if no prior pilates training exists.

Through the Coaching process and Mindful practice, my goal is to support clients in becoming more powerful observers, capable of being more self-generating as learners, to continually develop more flexible and effective modes of thinking, communicating and behaving for the benefit of themselves and others.
